Kansas City, Missouri New Homes

If you're looking to build a new home in an area where the jazz is cool but the city is hot, then Kansas City is your town. The city's abundance of attractions such as museums, parks, sporting events, and world class restaurants, make it the place many families and singles are proud to call home.

Located at the junction of the Missouri and Kansas rivers, Kansas City lies along the border of Missouri and Kansas and has a population of over 400,000 and a metro population of almost 2 million. Nearly the geographic center of the U.S., Kansas City has a variable climate. The average high temperature in January is 35° F and in July is 89°F and the area is subject to some variable weather during the winter and summer months.

Named after the Kansa Indians, Kansas City traces its beginnings to1821, when Missouri was admitted to the Union. It evolved from a trading post with the introduction of the railroads in the late 1800's, and the city grew to become one the largest livestock markets in the world. During the roaring 1920's, prohibition brought musicians to the "private" clubs, making Kansas City the jazz Mecca of the country. Later, a series of annexations helped grow the city to include four counties: Jackson, Clay, Platte and Cass.

Culturally, Kansas City offers something for everyone, including fine art at the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art, Broadway shows under the summer stars at the Starlight Theater, or cool jazz in the 18th & Vine Historic Jazz District. If sports are your thing, then Kansas City's got that too. Between the Royals' baseball, the Chiefs' football, NASCAR at Kansas Speedway, not to mention indoor and outdoor pro soccer and hockey, there's action going on in the city year 'round. And with over 200 parks in the Kansas City area, there's plenty of opportunity for the kids to burn off some excess energy.

But Kansas City isn't all just fun. Sprint, Yellow Roadway and H&R Block are just a few of the companies with headquarters here. You'll also find many manufacturing, transportation, and communications companies that call the city home.
